Your Week With Us
Menorca Singles Painting Holidays
Our inspirational painting sites are hugely important to us and we spend most of the winter looking for places where your creativity can flourish. We were particularly pleased with our 2010 painting holiday schedule, which we believe was our best yet and included wonderful Menorcan fishing villages, medieval churches, vibrant town squares and, during one day's painting, the chance to paint our own version of Stonehenge. Being a small island, you'd expect the seascapes to be spectacular and you certainly wouldn't be wrong about that.
We are still working on our 2011 singles painting holiday schedule, but here is a sample of our 2010 itinery to give you a taste of what to expect:
Friday: You will be met personally by Denise (your course tutor) at the airport, taken to your accommodation and settled in. In the evening there is a short informal welcome meeting, which will take place at around 8pm.
Saturday: Our first day's painting takes place in the fishing village of Es Canutells. Each morning we will look to leave our accommodation at around 9.30am in order to take advantage of the diversity of painting subjects available to us. Upon arrival, as with every painting day, Denise will give a short demonstration before letting you loose amongst the old fisherman's cottages, quaint quayside and forest fringed beach. Lunch is at around 2pm on the sea facing terrace of a delightful restaurant right in the middle of the village.

Sunday: Today's painting session takes place at the top of El Toro, which is the highest point on the whole of Menorca. Here we will paint in the courtyard of one of Menorca's oldest churches and subjects will include the church itself, the old priory walls and arches and a myriad of flowers and plants cultivated by the nuns who still look after the church and grounds. Lunch is at El Castillo (The Castle), which is a short drive away and located in the port of Addaia. As with most days, we should have you back to Son Bou by around 4.30pm.

Monday: Today we paint in Ciutadella, which was the capital of Menorca during the French occupation of the 18th century. The word Ciutadella actually means 'lookout' and in bygone days it's population was constantly under threat from foreign invasion and pirate raids. During your day in this charming town you will have the opportunity to paint in the small cobbled streets that meander around the main Cathedral and will be inspired by buildings that reflect the diversity of cultures that have occupied Menorca down the centuries. Lunch is taken in the small resort of Cala en Bosc (Beach in the Forest) and we will enjoy fine fare in a port side restaurant there. Ciutadella is a bit further away than our other destinations and so we would expect to arrive back in Son Bou by around 5pm.
Tuesday: Today is a complete free day for you to enjoy as you wish. Please feel free to ask us for any advice as to what you would like to do.
Wednesday: Today we are at the lighthouse of Favaritx on the north eastern coast of Menorca. This is the second year that we have taken our guests here and it is always a popular spot. The lighthouse on it's own would be an interesting enough subject, but the rocky moonscape and views off into the Med always seem to stimulate our guests into great work. Today we lunch in the picturesque village of Es Grau, where we enjoy fantastic fish dishes of all shapes and sizes. It would be a shame not to take advantage of Es Grau as a painting site and so after lunch, for those that wish to participate, we will organise another session until around 5pm.

Thursday: Our last day's painting takes place in a Talaiotic village just outside of Mahón. These villages are unique to Menorca and are around 4000 years old. They could easily be described as the Menorcan version of Stonehenge and offer a unique, if slightly surreal, painting experience. Today lunch is taken at the wonderful Casa Andres in Son Bou, where we will enjoy our last meal together. In the evening there will be a last night critique and showing of our collective work. This will also double up as an excuse for all to have a couple of glasses of wine and good time all round.

Friday: Denise will return you personally to the airport in good time for your flight. You will be advised of pick up time in advance.
