Your Singles Painting Holiday With Us

Menorca Singles Painting Holidays

Our personally chosen painting sites are vitally important to us and we spend a large percentage of the winter looking for inspirational and relevant places for our painting holiday guests to enjoy. During 2011 our destinations were a major hit and our painting holiday guests took advantage of inspiring scenery. These included unspoilt Menorcan fishing communities, churches from the Middle Ages and bustling village squares. Menorca is a Mediterranean island and, of course, the opportunity to paint the sea and seascapes are always an important part of your painting holiday experience.

Below is our 2011 singles painting holiday schedule. Our search for new painting sites is ongoing and we're regularly on the lookout for new and exciting subjects for our painting holiday guests to experience.  For this reason, our 2012 schedule is still to be finalised. However, you can be assured that it will be just as varied and interesting as the locations shown below:

Friday: You are met personally at the airport, either by Denise or Carolyn, and driven to your painting holiday accommodation (sometimes there may be a short wait whilst we meet another flight).  After being driven to your painting holiday base (about 30 minutes in the minibus), we check you in and make sure that you are comfortable in your accommodation.  At this point, we leave you to unwind and relax for the rest of the day.  At around 7.00pm we organise a short "getting to know you" meeting, which will include a run through of how the holiday works.  After this, we go for an introductory group tapas meal at a local bar.

Cala Mesquida, Menorca      Cala Mesquida, Menorca

Saturday morning painting: On the first day of your painting holiday, we depart the accommodation as close to 9.15am as possible and drive to the picture postcard village of Cala Mesquida. The seascapes and rock formations here cry out to be painted and our base is perfectly situated to take advantage of these. We also have the chance to paint the 18th century Martello defence tower, which overlooks the beach of Cala Mesquida on the other side of the bay. Today we take lunch at around 1.45pm at a farmhouse restaurant close by. At the end of our meal we return you to your accommodation at around 4.00pm. This overall timing will be similar for all daily activities during your painting holiday.

Port of Addaya, Menorca      Port of Addaya, Menorca

Sunday morning painting: Today our painting session takes place in the port of Addaya. The port itself is home to a combination of up market cruising vessels, parked alongside typical old fashioned Menorcan fishing boats. The surrounding area is stunning, with wonderful views across the port to the rolling hills and forest beyond.

Alaior, Menorca      Alaior, Menorca

Monday morning painting: Today we take the 10 minute drive to the inland town of Alaior, where you'll be set free to enjoy all that the village has to offer. Popular painting subjects include quaint village houses with flower filled balconies and narrow cobbled streets. Alaior also has a beautiful church with an orange tree filled courtyard which makes a fascinating subject.

Tuesday: Today is your free day and a chance to relax and chill out if you like. However, if you need any advice in getting somewhere or any other information, don't be afraid to ask one of us.

Port of Mahon, Menorca      Port of Mahon, Menorca

Wednesday morning painting: Today we paint from a base close to the mouth of the world's second deepest natural harbour, Mahon. The range of potential subjects from our vantage point is vast. These include old fisherman's houses, small boats on the water's edge and the historic islands in the middle of the harbour. We are also perfectly situated to paint Lord Nelson's 18th century colonial house, which sits on the top of the hill across the harbour from us.

Cala Galdana, Menorca      Cala Galdana, Menorca

Thursday morning painting: Today we paint at Cala Galdana, which is generally considered to be one of the prettiest bays on Menorca. On our last day together, we actually paint on the beach, which is shaded by pine trees and the surrounding cliffs. The sea at Cala Galdana is a delicious turquoise and provides a stunning colour contrast with the rugged cliff faces and green pines.

Thursday evening: On our last night together, we usually gather for an informal critique and showing of the week's work. It is also a good chance to use up any leftover nibbles and open a bottle of wine or two.

Friday:  Today, we pick you up and return you personally to the airport in good time for your flight. We hope to see you again sometime.
