The Sierra Tramontanas Mallorca

Sierra Tramontana Mountains Mallorca

The Sierra Tramontanas (meaning mountain range of the north wind) is a majestic natural phenomena of 88 kilometers in length that emerges from the sea, rising up to a maximum of 1400m and protecting the island from the strong north wind. For this reason, the south of Mallorca generally experiences warm weather, even in the winter. It is the islands spine, a unique landscape with natural, mysterious and romantic beauty. From Formentor to La Trapa, running along Mallorca's north coast, the Sierra Tramontanas show their majesty as a whole, but also in all its small, amazing nooks and crannies. Some of the most beautiful parts of the mountain range are Lluc, the beach of CalaTuent, Fornalutx, Deià and, of course, our singles walking holiday base, the Port of Soller. All of these are isolated from the rest of the island and cry out to be discovered.

Here everything changes; the weather, the landscape, the appearance of the towns. You'll see sheep and goats on your walking holiday, while olive, orange and fig trees seem to be everywhere. Always in the background, you can enjoy the crystal clear and blue Med from the highest peaks on the island.

We often say that if we had one word to describe Menorca, that word would be ‘charming’. If we were to describe our walking holidays on Mallorca, however, the first phrase to pass our lips would be ‘dramatic’.
